It addresses:

  • Students working for their master and Ph.D. thesis
  • as well as young engineers and researchers

This course has been split in 3 seminars allowing the course participants to follow the projects progress and to discuss with experts.

The first seminar did take place in Stuttgart. It covered the topics:

  • Introduction of the HTR technology
  • core physics
  • thermal hydraulics of the core

The second seminar did take place in Petten (The Netherlands) December 2007
Topics covered:

  • General Information on V/HTR
  • Coated Particle Fuel Design
  • Fuel Fabrication
  • Fuel Characterisation Techniques
  • Fuel Irradiation and PIE
  • Fuel Waste Processing and Storage

The third seminar did take pace in Aix en Provence / Cadarache (France) in November 2008.
It covered the topics:

  • Introduction to the V/HTR plant
  • Materials and components
  • Safety aspects
  • Possible application and processes
